Latin American Evangelical Theology in the 1970's ─ The Golden Decade

Historical theologian Salinas, a lecturer for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Latin America, describes how a few Latin American evangelical theologians were able to break the hold of the past and open new horizons for people during the same decade that saw the emergence of the much better publicized liberation theology. He begins by setting the historical and theological scene, and the goals and methods of his research. Then he covers mutual perceptions of Latin America and the US, the two congresses of 1969; the Fraternidad Teologica Latinoamericana; Latin American theologians in the International Congress on World Evangelization and other international forums; and Congreso Latinoamericano de Evangelizacion (CLADE) II in Huampani, Peru in November 1979.
