Collects 18 published articles of Professor Lecker (pictured, but without his academic affiliation specified), 1984-97, illuminating Islamic historiography organized into sections on: Jews and Arabs before Islam, Muhammad at Medina, tribes in the Yemen, and Arabic and Islamic literature in the formative period (roughly to 622 CE). A sampling of titles includes: "Idol worship in pre-Islamic Medina," "Judaism among Kinda and the ridda of Kinda," and "The death of Prophet Mohammed's father: did Waqidi invent some of the evidence?" Includes several basic b&w maps of the Arabian peninsula.
