Citizen Journalism ― Global Perspectives

As the second volume in a series, Citizen Journalism: Global Perspectives strives to expand on the topics presented in the first volume. To paraphrase, this includes exploring important developments in citizen journalism since 2008, with a particular focus on using social media when reporting in a crisis situation. The second objective is to provide a new set of case studies, including citizen journalists who report during a range of crisis situations. A third goal is to discuss new ideas, concepts, and frameworks important to the study of citizen journalism. Finally, the book evaluates current academic and journalistic discussions with particular regard to the growing importance of citizen journalism for globalizing new cultures. It is important to note that this volume also expands upon volume 1 by offering examples of citizen journalism from the US, the United Kingdom, China, India, and Iran, among other places.
