In exploring the popular conceptions regarding health and medicine in modern urban China, Boke focuses on emotions, which comprise one disease category. His topics include research questions and methodology, emotions and health in classical Chinese texts and modern medical textbooks, Beijing inhabitants' familiarity with Chinese medical concepts and the evaluation of Chinese medicine, changing habitus and different modes of power, and Chinese medicine between change and persistence. 作者簡介
Martin Boke studied Cultural Anthropology, Sinology, History and Geography in Cologne and Beijing. For his doctoral thesis he was awarded a scholarship from the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School of the Humanities in Cologne. He currently is a teaching assistant at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Cologne.
