In this text the editors have collected thirteen original essays examining and documenting the intersection of politics, law, and the stability of society in contemporary China. The first group of essays is focused on the concept of managing disputes in modern china, looking at labor relations, land reform, and legal activism. The second section of the book is focused on the creation and maintenance of Chinese legal frameworks, looking at regulation, mediation between state and society, and the Chinese legal system. The final section of the book is titled Framing the Discourses of Stability and looks at the concept of stability through managed state control.
