Crime Scenes ― Modern Crime Fiction in an International Context

Elias and Sienkiewicz-Charlish provide students and academics with a collection examining the international context of crime fiction across several national literary traditions. The twenty-four essays that make up the text are organized in three sections, which examine genres, authors and texts, and topics related to the field of inquiry, in turn. The texts in question are examined from the perspectives of intertextuality, nationhood and globalization, ethics, and a variety of others. Urszula Elias is an independent scholar and author. Urszula Elias studied English Literature at the University of Gdansk (Poland). Her research interests include British lesbian literature and Victorian women fiction (especially the issue of ?New Womanhood?). Currently she is working on George Egerton’s collections of short stories.
Agnieszka Sienkiewicz-Charlish is a member of the Scottish Studies Research Group at the University of Gdansk (Poland). Her research interests include Scottish literature, Gothic and crime fiction, especially ?Tartan Noir? and Ian Rankin.
