New Voices in Higher Education Research and Scholarship

This volume draws together 15 chapters of higher education research in areas like the changing pattern of decision making, labor market issues, knowledge acquisition and creation, lifelong learning, globalization and internationalization issues, challenging university teachers' competency levels, modernizing the university, university program reviews, access by underrepresented groups, and multidisciplinary research. Education and other researchers from Europe, Chile, Australia, and Mongolia (many of whom are early career researchers) address trends in European higher education policy in terms of the debate about university-industry relations and research excellence; personnel policy changes in four European universities; how funds of knowledge can be used with social network analysis to investigate epistemic authority and change in knowledge creation processes; how international comparative and collaborative projects in higher education research conceptualize the use of methods; quality assurance in doctoral research supervision; the impact of doctoral education and workforce on the university-industry collaboration and institutional change of technology centers; and resources, processes, and transformational research and globalization. Others examine communication technologies, digital technology use by teachers, participation and progression by mature students, educational policies that target Roma integration in Romania, international student perceptions of ethics in a business pathway program, the evaluation and impact of accredited courses in academic professional development centers, a hybrid program for preschool and primary certification, and a graduate study program for preschool teacher education.
