Concisely summarizing imaging spectrometer instrumentation, this book divides current imaging spectrometer modalities into two tiers. The first tier describes how any given spectrometer acquires spectral data, specifically, using frequency or time domain techniques. The second tier explains how the spectrometer divides the light after entering the system. Each instrument’s introduction includes a system schematic as well as a discussion of theoretical foundations, calibration issues, and design considerations. The book also explores common spectral processing algorithms and provides a comparison between the different forms of instrumentation.

作者簡介

Dr. Michael Kudenov’s research is focused on developing novel imaging systems, interferometers, detectors, and anisotropic materials related to polarization and spectral sensing, for wavelengths spanning ultraviolet through the thermal infrared. He is particularly interested in developing novel anisotropic materials and detector technologies that better enable snapshot systems, which are capable of maximizing the spatial, spectral, and/or polarimetric information contained within a single image. Applications include biomedical imaging, remote sensing, food safety, 3D Imaging, and atmospheric monitoring. Dr. Kudenov has authored 13 journal articles, 15 conference proceedings, 2 patents (pending), 1 book contribution, and is in the process of writing a new book on instrumentation. He is currently interested in obtaining undergraduate and graduate student researchers.

Julia Craven Jones completed her BS in physics at San Diego State University in 2006, and her MS and PhD in optical sciences at the University of Arizona in 2008 and 2011, respectively. Dr. Jones joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2011and has worked in the field of optical remote sensing since 2008. Her work at SNL has focused on optical remote sensing system development and signature exploitation for a variety of applications and platforms, ranging from ground based prototype sensors to space based monitoring systems. She has developed several unique polarimetric and spectropolarimetric sensors for remote sensing. Dr. Jones has co-authored 7 peer reviewed publications, 8 conference proceedings, and served as a member of the external evaluation team for IFE14, evaluating the use of multispectral and infrared (MSIR) technologies at the exercise.
