Contemporary Cape Cod Artists on Abstraction

An art book in a horizontal hardbound format, this volume looks at abstract paintings by contemporary artists from the Cape Cod area. More than 400 high-quality color images are included, showcasing the work of about 40 artists. Several images occupy each page. As with Santa Fe art, the work here is designed to sell to art tourists and mid-level collectors, and so splits the stylistic difference between commercial art and fine art for the biennial/museum market. The work here is organized into fairly arbitrary thematic chapters. It may be semi-representational (gentle takes on cubism or pop art) or fully abstract. Most of the work here is characterized by bright appealing colors and technical proficiency both in execution and photography of the work. Some sculptors who make wall or tabletop pieces are also included. There is a list of galleries representing the artists in the back of the book.
