The New Politics of Global Academic Mobility and Migration

Seven papers selected from presentations at an international held in Malaysia during 2012 begin a process of shifting the study of academic mobility and migration from industrialized countries to the rest of the world. They cover mobility determinants among Italian students; achievements, inequalities and prospects of the Erasmus Programme; the dynamics of brain-drain and brain-gain; a comparative perspective on the shifting boundaries of the academic profession in Malaysia; student and staff imaginaries about study abroad; inter-campus exchange as specific study abroad in Australia, Malaysia, and South Africa; and writing challenges faced by international students in academic writing.
