A specialist in runes and runic inscriptions, Looijenga (Rijkuniversiteit Groningen) gathers nearly all older inscriptions in the runic alphabet from the period 150-700 AD in England, across northern Europe, and southeast as far as Bosnia and Rumania. She begins with essays on early runic writing, and the historical and archaeological contexts of objects that have been runed. Then she presents a catalogue of the inscriptions with datings; readings and interpretations; limited graphic, orthographic, and linguistic analysis; and concise bibliographical references. 作者簡介
Tineke J.H. Looijenga, Ph.D. (1997) in Historical Linguistics, is Senior Consultant at the University of Groningen. She has published extensively on runes and runic inscriptions.
