Dictionary and Thesaurus of Tocharian A ― A-j

Carling (linguistics, Lund U., Sweden), collaborating with Werner Winter and Georges-Jean Pinault, has compiled a dictionary of Tocharian A, an Indo-European language of Central Asia. This impressively researched work, the first of an anticipated two volumes, presents the words from A-J. Each entry notes the passages in the surviving Tocharian A texts where the words occur and their parallels in Sanskrit and Uighur, when available, and in Tocharian B. The entries present each word in its basic form, noting its word-class and giving the English translation, followed by alternate forms and morphology, previous translations, syntax, derivation and etymology, and all references, including citations in recent literature.
