Liturgy in Postcolonial Perspectives ― Only One Is Holy

The liturgical movement is at a new turn, continuing the liturgical renewal with a twist, wrestling with what hasn't been engaged yet and issuing a call to expand itself into other connections and possibilities. This book brings Christian, Jewish and Muslim scholars from different fields of knowledge and many places across the globe to introduce/expand the dialogue between the field of liturgy and postcolonial/decolonial thinking. The very plurality of the methodologies and approaches used here represented might be the best witness to the decolonial/postcolonial theory. The essays of this book show a little of its complexities, the ins and outs and withins of imperial/colonial religious senses, reasons and practices. The hope is that this book will serve as another source for others to venture into new and old thinking, opening up the liturgical field into new territories, risky thinking, unseen dialectical/dialogical connections and uncharted waters.

Claudio Carvalhaes, once a shoe-shining boy in Brazil, is a theologian, liturgist, and artist. Formerly Associate Professor of Liturgy and Worship at Lutheran Theological, USA, he now teaches at McCormick Theological Seminary, USA. He is the author of Eucharist and Globalization: Redrawing the Borders of Eucharistic Hospitality
