Pentecostals and Charismatics in Latin America and Latino Communities

This book puts on display the complex social, cultural, political, migration, generational, identity, and hermeneutical intersecting concerns and challenges faced by pentecostals-charismatics in Latin America and among Latinos (Canada and USA), groups that share profound historical, linguistic and cultural roots. The book highlights the weaving of renewal theological traditions with various disciplines, including ethics, sociology, history, political theory and migration studies. Germane to this collection is the asynchronous historical grounding/emergence of pentecostal-charismatic movements with multiple and diverse international connections and expressions, which contribute to provide a fuller portrait of the complexities and interrelated nature of renewal movements across the globe. In contrast to other collections this compilation brings together practitioners and academics with pentecostal-charismatic affiliations, who from within analyse the development of the movement among these diverse communities.

Sammy Alfaro is Assistant Professor of Theology at Grand Canyon University, College of Theology, USA. He is also an ordained minister of the Church of God, Cleveland, USA. He is the author of Divino Companero: Toward a Hispanic Pentecostal Christology.
