Resilience in Childhood ― Perspectives, Promise & Practice

Resilience in Childhood provides a contemporary and holistic analysis of the childhood resilience, drawing upon a wide range of academic disciplines and practices. It helps students and practitioners fully understand drivers behind the policy and practice directives promoting self-reliance, autonomy and independence in children, young people, and families.

Part I explores definitions of resilience and it's "construction" over the last 50 years. Part II examines psychological, sociological and neurobiological perspectives that contribute to our understanding of how childhood resilience can be developed and fostered. Part III explores strategies and approaches relating theory to current intervention practice and policy drivers.

Dr. Erica Joslyn is Head of Department within the Faculty of Social Sciences at University Campus Suffolk, UK. She leads the highly successful areas of Early Childhood Studies, Early Learning, Early Years Practice, Special Education Needs and Disability Studies, school centred initial teacher training (SCITT) and Masters programmes in Childhood & Youth Studies and Learning & Teaching.
