Introductory Fisheries Analyses With R

This book provides detailed instructions on how to perform basic fisheries stock assessment analyses in the R environment. The analyses covered are typical analyses for many working fisheries scientists and, thus, also occur in most upper-level undergraduate and graduate level fisheries science, analysis, or management courses. The book will begin with several foundational chapters that will help the reader become familiar with R within the context of basic fisheries analyses and lots. The remaining chapters build upon the foundational skills with analytical techniques specific to fisheries stock assessments.

Derek H. Ogle is a professor of mathematical sciences and natural resources at Northland College, where he teaches statistics and fisheries science courses and has received awards for teaching, scholarly work, service, and assessment activities. Dr. Ogle maintains the fishR website, which is dedicated to sharing information on how to perform fisheries analyses in R. He earned a PhD in fisheries science from the University of Minnesota. His research interests include the population dynamics of invasive species and little-studied native species.
