商品簡介
Nature Unbound: Bureaucracy Vs. the Environment examines and disputes the “balance of nature” doctrine, which perpetuates the idea that nature is best managed by letting it take its natural course. Instead, the book puts forth proof based on the findings of ecologists and other environmental scientists that other management scenarios are more effective and that the balance of nature doctrine is employed by policy makers and environmental groups in order to persuade the public to support political efforts, people, or groups. Two themes guide the book’s discourse--political ecology and political entrepreneurship--on topics such as the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and others. The authors examine the validity of “the ecological crisis” through a lens based on history, politics, and research. Distributed by Independent Publishers Group.
