商品簡介
Remaking Post-Industrial Cities brings together leading urbanists from around the world working on revitalizing post-industrial cities. It showcases 11 transformative case studies from North America and Europe which were developed out of the Remaking Cities Congress, where Prince Charles was the Honorary Chair and keynote speaker. Combined these cases present a holistic approach to restoring post-industrial cities. The book discusses key issues and recommendations for post-industrial cities in five thematic areas:
- repositioning the post-industrial city in the global economy
- post-industrialism and the physical city
- the 21st century city as an innovation hub
- urban systems and infrastructure
- and planning and social innovation.
The cases also cross-cut these themes with issues crucial to the resilience of post-industrial cities including sustainability; doing more with less; public engagement and equity (social, economic and environmental), the most important issue cities face today and for the foreseeable future.
Remaking Post-Industrial Cities provides essential "lessons learned" and is an invaluable resource for practitioners in planning, urban design, urban redevelopment, economic development and public and social policy as well as students training to work in these areas.
