Improving Urban Access ─ New Approaches to Funding Transport Investment

This volume will continue the work on the theme of financing urban access that was published in the volume Finance and Governance Models for Transport Infrastructure. This second volume takes the work to the next step. It begins addressing the challenge of analyzing the practical obstacles to implementing new finance models. It frames the access and sustainability issue and the all-important challenge of social inclusion in more precise terms. The volume builds systematically on the translation from the social notion of the meaning of access into its integration in financial models for sustainable urban transport. The topic of value capture as a practical tool is described as well as the state of the art in terms of new organizational forms, which is explained through a survey of important innovations around the world.
