Where Are All the Librarians of Color? ― The Experiences of People of Color in Academia

While there are many recent books on people of color in academic professions, there are no texts available that discuss the experiences of academic librarians or archivists of color. Where are All the Librarians of Color? seeks to fill that void by presenting the history of librarians of color in academia, along with the perspectives, challenges, opportunities, and tenure process for librarians of color in the field today. The book is divided into three sections written by 27 diverse voices in the field. Section One covers the fundamental issues that must be addressed when discussing equity and diversity. Section Two explores tangible evidence that diversity benefits library and archival professions, as well as how those professions currently fall short of acknowledging those benefits. Section Three explores how librarians have used their diverse experiences and perspectives to move beyond diversity to equity in the profession.
