Reprints in a single volume Everyday Television: Nationwide (1978) and The Nationwide Audience (1980) published by the British Film Institute as part of its Television Monographs series. They deal with Nationwide, an early evening television news program on BBC 1, particularly with a single edition on 19 May 1976. The first is a detailed textual reading of the program. The second reports the findings of audience research in which the same edition was shown to a range of different audience groups for discussion. The history of the research that generated the two has been cited often in subsequent media studies, but they are long out of print and the references to them are becoming less accurate as they become more generations removed from the original source.
