Good healthcare is about more than making a diagnosis and giving the correct medical treatment—the experience of those going through the system is hugely important. Parents will remember forever how a piece of news was broken, or the nurse that was dismissive when her child said he was hungry, or the one who noticed his team cap that he is so proud of. Good communication is also absolutely key. This book is a collection of stories that represent the journeys of the many families who have children with long term or complex conditions and usefully draws out the implications for those in training and in practice of the experience of how the medical treatment was delivered.
