Italian scholar Marracci (1612-1700) is best known for his translations between Arabic and Latin, including a Latin translation of the Qur'an. The discovery of his manuscripts in Rome during 2012 allow scholars now to study his methods and approach to translating and commenting on the Qur'an. Drawing on the 15 manuscripts--almost 10,000 pages--Glei and Tottoli look at Marracci and the Islamic sources, and his use of the Latin language in his translation of the Qur'an.
