作者簡介
Dr. J. Doug Stringer is founder and president of Turning Point Ministries International and Somebody Cares America/International (SCA/SCI), which was recognized in the May/June 2014 issue of Ministry Today magazine as one of the twenty-one churches or ministries that are most influencing the twenty-first-century church. Doug’s years of ministry have taken him to numer-ous communities and nations—from urban to foreign missions, from garbage dumps to the palaces and halls of government leaders. As an Asian-American, Doug is considered a bridge-builder of reconciliation amongst various ethnic and religious groups. Doug is a sought-after international conference and crusade speaker. Annually he addresses thousands throughout the U.S. and abroad on topics such as persevering leadership and community transformation.
Doug has received honorary and earned degrees from various col-leges, including a PhD in Leadership and Human Development; a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Logos Graduate School; and a Doctorate of Ministry from New Covenant International University, as well as a Pastoral Certificate in Practical Ministry from Regent University.
Somebody Cares has implemented several citywide strategies now multiplied in cities across the nation. Over the years, Somebody Cares has become a model for connecting needs with resources during nat-ural calamities, including the Japan earthquake/tsunami, the Texas wildfires, the Haitian earthquake, the Indian Ocean tsunami, and Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Ike. Through the expansion of the disas-ter preparedness and relief collaborations, the ministry has established the Global Compassion Response Network.
Doug has served on several disaster relief panels, including a forum hosted by the Heritage Foundation, based in Washington, DC. Doug served on the OneStar Foundation by appointment by the governor of Texas. He also serves on the international advisory board of the Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy. He serves on various local, national, and international boards, including the Christian Men’s Network and the Global Fatherhood Initiative. He serves as co-chair for the Billion Souls Initiative and for Mission America’s Love2020 Initiative, as well as on the advisory boards of ministries such as Youth-Reach Houston, Coreluv for Orphans, Seniority Services, Inc., and others.
Doug served on the executive leadership committee of America for Jesus, a national prayer gathering held in Philadelphia. In August 2011, Doug served as national mobilization coordinator and Houston host for The Response, a national prayer gathering with approximately forty thousand people in attendance. He has also served as facilita-tor and moderator with Governor Bobby Jindal for The Response Louisiana; The Response South Carolina with Governor Nikki Haley; The Response North Carolina with Governor Pat McCrory; and The Response Florida with Governor Rick Scott.
Doug is the author of In Search of a Father’s Blessing, It’s Time to Cross the Jordan, The Fatherless Generation, Somebody Cares, Born to Die, Hope for the Fatherless Generation, and Living Life Well.
Doug resides in the greater Houston, Texas, area with his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Ashley.
