This book is about teachers and young people’s learning in physical activity education settings and the ways in which digital technologies can enhance and accelerate learning. It uses the innovative ‘pedagogical cases’ model in which a case narrative details practitioners’ pedagogical intentions and processes when using technology with specific groups of young people. The narratives are then analysed to provide a multi-disciplinary and critical understanding of the possibilities and challenges of supporting learning with digital technologies. Each case concludes with a pedagogical synthesis and a practitioner reflection to highlight the links between theory, research and practice.

作者簡介

Ashley Casey, now a Lecturer in Pedagogy at Loughborough University, UK, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Limerick, Ireland, has published twenty four peer-reviewed papers in the last four years and is an active member of a number of international organisations. He is a member of the British Educational Research Association and is current the co-convenor of the Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy SIG. He is a member of the Association of Physical Education and chair of their research committee. He is a member of the National Association of Kinesiology in Higher Education, an associate editor of the Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy journal, a member of the editorial board of the journals QUEST and Cultura_Ciencia_Deporte and he reviews for a number of international journals. He is active on Twitter, writes a weekly research blog for teachers at www.peprn.com/news.aspx and publishes a weekly podcast. His website has received over 70,000 unique visitors from 120 countries since its inception in July 2010.

Victoria Goodyear is a former physical education teacher and now a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire, UK. She is an early career researcher and in the past two years she has published five peer-review papers, five professional journal articles and three book chapters. Her work surrounding sustainable curriculum renewal, social media, and teacher professional learning has won national and international awards from the American Educational Research Association, the European Educational Research Association, the Youth Sport Trust and the Association for Physical Education. Victoria is also an editor for the Research Matters section of the Physical Education Matters journal and a co-Editor of the Physical Education online MESH guide. She frequently discusses and supports teachers in developing their practice through social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and contributes to the Physical Education Practitioner Research Network (www.peprn.com).

Kathleen Armour is Professor of Education and Sport and Head of the multi-disciplinary School of Sport, Exercise & Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham, UK. She has written or edited seven books (four in the last four years) published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, and has held research grants worth over £2.5 million. Kathleen is a Fellow of the Academic of Social Sciences; International Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology, USA; member of the UK REF2014 assessment sub-panel for Sport & Exercise Sciences; member of the peer-review college for the ESRC; Chair of a grant review panel for the Academy of Science in Finland; reviewer for a variety of journals in the field and in education; and keynote speaker at numerous international conferences.
