商品簡介
Thisbook examines how international order at sea is challenged, changed andmaintained. The book surveys challenges to the internationalorder at sea in the Asia-Pacific, the Indian Ocean Region, the Atlantic Oceanand the Arctic Ocean. It explores theinteraction between and cooperation among leading, emerging and smaller navalpowers, both naval and coastguard responses, required for themaintenance of good order atsea. Six broad and interlinked issues are identified that willinfluence the future international order at sea: the balance between themaritime and the continental domains; the balance between great power rivalryand cooperation; the contest between access and denial; the operational balancebetween preparing; building and training for warfighting as opposed tooperations other than war; how to manage ‘disorder’ security challenges thatvery often transcends territorial waters and national boundaries, and finally, the balance between safeguarding national interests and contributing tocollective efforts preserving the international order at sea.
