商品簡介
This second edition of Plant Stress Physiology, supported by all but one contributor to the first edition, will provide a timely update on the recent progress in our knowledge on all aspects of plant's perception, signalling and adaptation to variety of environmental stresses such as drought, salinity, temperature and pH extremes, waterlogging, oxidative stress, and pathogens. It will also include a new chapter on atmospheric pollutants.
Adverse environmental conditions and biotic factors have major detrimental effects on crop production around the globe. A key to reducing stress-related losses is to better understand key physiological and molecular mechanisms conferring plant tolerance to adverse environmental factors. Recent developments in biochemical and molecular techniques have resulted in the nearly exponential accumulation of our knowledge on specific genes involved under a variety of stress conditions. The physiological roles of these genes, as well as the integration of the collective responses of highly specialized plant cells and tissues are much less understood, yet a crucial topic for a broad range of researchers, from ecologists to plant physiologists to agronomists and plant breeders.
