This book delineates the subtle connection between inflammation and oxidative stress and furthers the understanding of these pathological features common to a wide range of age-related disease states. It illuminates the mechanistic nature of the relation between inflammation and free radical generation as well as including more practical discussion concerning the clinical management of these aberrant and destructive propensities. Inflammation and oxidative stress are both found in a wide range of age-related chronic diseases as well as being intrinsic to the natural progression of aging itself. They represent aberrant enhancements of normal and vital cellular responses. Even though they often are found together, the causal link between inflammation and oxidative stress is not well understood.
