Uyghur Conceptions of Family and Society ― Habits of the Uyghur Heart

This book is a study of minority subjective experiences in China, contributing to the literature on ethnic studies in China. Empirically, it examines what Uyghur Muslims think of spousal relations and wife battery, parenting and discipline, trust, community engagement, economic justice, autonomy, and life satisfaction. It uses both qualitative and quantitative data to provide a description of Uyghur perceptions. Data were gathered from fieldwork in Ürümchi, which include field observations, in-depth interviews, and a survey and the concluding analyses show a high degree of Uyghur conformity to global norms on family and society.
