A Practical Introduction to Enterprise Network and Security Management

The book is written for students studying Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems or Computer Science, and exposed to the subject for the first time. With 12 chapters of roughly equal length, the book is designed for a semester of 15 ~ 16 weeks. Special attention has been paid on explaining subjects in a systematic, but very practical manner that students can follow through. There is no prerequisite for this course besides the basic understanding of computer hardware and software. As an indication of the book’s practical value to readers, it took the author 7+ years’ of continuous revisions to get to this point.

Bongsik Shin teaches at San Diego State University. He has teaching experience in data communications & network security, business intelligence (data warehousing, data mining, and statistics), introductory and advanced electronic commerce, IT management & strategy, operating systems, and principles of MIS. Especially, he has been teaching data communications & network security over 18 years. His academic activities have been funded by nineteen different teaching and research grants since 1997. His research interests include e-commerce/mobile commerce, information security, IT capability, and research methodology. His research has appeared in such journals as MIS Quarterly, IEEE Transactions (Engineering Mgt & SMC), Journal of AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of MIS, Information Systems Journal, Communications of the ACM, Information & Management, and Decision Support Systems.
