Understanding Secured Transactions

Lawrence (law, U. of San Diego), Henning, and Freyermuth teach law students about the law related to secured transactions and the nature of the transactions to which the law applies. They explain different types of secured transactions and incorporate discussion of each financing arrangement into the text where substantive concepts are covered. They integrate and develop aspects of preventative law in which the practitioner advises the client on alternative methods of structuring transactions and the risks for each option, going beyond the text of the Uniform Commercial Code by explaining the practical constraints that affect decision-making. Chapters are organized by the traditional five-part approach to the law: the scope of the article, attachment of security interests, perfection of security interests, priorities among competing claimants to collateral, and enforcement of security interests.
