Data Visualization

There has been huge growth in innovative data visualisations in recent years, and there is a lot of interest in this topic among academics, the general public, journalists and business people. This book provides an introduction to the general principles of data visualization, with a focus on practical considerations for people who want to understand them or start making their own. It does not cover tools, which are varied and constantly changing, but focusses on the thought process of choosing the right format and design to best serve the data and the message. Naturally, the book will have lots of full colour examples of good and bad data visualizations.

Robert Grant is a British statistician specialising in data visualisation and Bayesian models. He worked in biomedical research and taught statistics at St George's Medical School, Kingston University, the Royal College of Physicians of London, and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence before launching his own training and coaching business, BayesCamp, in 2017.
