The anthology combines seven scholarly and general essays, seven short stories, mixed genres, poetry, and plays that focus on politics and knowledge production in light of the 500 years of contact between Africa, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Among the essays are Education and Religion as Sociological Tools for Social and National Development in Nigeria, You Have Struck Women! You Have Struck a Rock! A South African Perspective on International Women's Day, and It Takes a Village. The stories include One Man and His Axe, A Modern Rwandan Folk Tale, Life Can Make You Cry, and Beasts in the Farmstead. Most but not all of the poems are by poets in Africa, Britain, or Ireland.
