On the eve of a solar eclipse, a couple forced into hiding discovers that they can no longer run from their past.
In the summer of 1999, Kit and Laura travel to a festival in Cornwall to see a total eclipse. Young and in love, they are certain this will be the first of many solar events they’ll share. But in the hushed moments after the sun’s shadow passes, Laura interrupts a couple: the woman knows that she saw something terrible and the man denies it. It is her word against his; Laura believes hers. Months later, the woman turns up on Laura’s doorstep and Laura can’t help but wonder: did she trust the wrong person?

Fifteen years later, Kit and Laura are living under assumed names and completely off the grid―with no digital presence, only spotty cellular service, and little interaction with anyone who knew them from their free-spirited, eclipse-chasing days. But a dark secret from the past is coming back to light…and once the truth catches up with them, there will be no turning back.
