The Gem That Generated Giving

Basil Drempt is a 12-year-old boy looking forward to the long summer holidays. But when he and his best friend Samuel have a wrestling match in the forest after the last day of school, with the twins Brunson and Kittle, they discover something amazing. His finding of a valuable gem, thanks to Duggard the dog, leads the pair to a place called the puzzle of nightmares, a part of town in Molasses, New Hampshire, that has been closed for ten years. Now, with the gem once more available, Frederik Lars Vonsen hires mercenaries and sends them to Molasses to locate it, telling them not to bother returning until the gem is found. The mercenaries, bound to nothing besides fulfilling the commands of Frederik, are now closer than ever to recovering what their master wants. But they have to get it from Basil and Samuel first and they aren't going to give it up without a fight. The mercenaries close in on their prize, who can Basil and Samuel trust? And how will one solitary stone place them on a path that will change the lives of many strangers forever?
