Summer to Remember: Charlotte Moves to A Surfing Town and Finds Love

Charlotte lives in the Midwest and works a desk job. She drags herself to work and watches the clock all day wishing she could be on a beach like the one on her screen. Growing up she was active in sports and involved in lots of school activities. This is not the life she pictured for herself as an adult but she feels stuck in a town where no one takes risks because they act like everyone else. When she finally feels like she can't take any more of her boring life, she goes to the bathroom and finds herself crying, at her wit's end, she asks for a sign to help her find a way out. She gets an email advertisement for a free tarot reading and accidentally opens it. The card shows two lovers on the beach in a passionate embrace. Without thinking and writes an email giving two-week notice to her boss. Before she can talk herself out of it, she clicks 'send.' She goes home and lists all her furniture for sale and packs her bags. Her boss lets her leave right away and she drives fifteen hours to the coast of California where she parks her Honda civic next to beachy Jeeps and Volkswagen vans. She walks down to the beach and puts her feet in the sand breathing in the freedom of her new life. She hears footsteps coming down the steps and three young, tan, and fit guys are running towards the water. She watches them surf mesmerized by their sense of ease. She later runs into the same guys who are standing behind her at a local pizza shop and overhears them talking about needing a new roommate. She interjects that she just got to the area and needs a place to crash. She moves in that night and the boys throw a party with their local surf friends. She tells her story to one of the surfers late at night in the hot tub and he kisses her. The next morning she expects him to ignore her and he doesn't. He invites her to come surf and tells her he is inspired by how brave she was to do what she really wanted. Their romance develops and Charlotte finds the summer helps her open up and feel like herself again. Charlotte knows that it might not last as her new boyfriend is winning the surf competitions and may go pro. When he wins a national competition, she gets ready to say goodbye knowing he will be traveling to Bali and Australia. But he surprises her and makes it a summer she will never forget.
