The other thing I learned was that Israel was not completely surprised by the Egyptian and Syrian attacks. The biggest fault that the Israelis had was their confidence that the Egyptians would fight similarly as their enemy had done in the past. I think this book provides a good introduction to the animosity that is between the Arab countries and Israel. I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in the Israeli Arab conflicts and why the conflict will not end anytime soon.
