In 1989 Angus & Robertson, that landmark firm of Australian publishing for over a century, became an imprint of HarperCollins. Regrettable though loss of the old firm was, it became possible briefly for authors to regain rights to some of their titles, in my case to Wrecks and Reputations (the loss of
the ships Schomberg and Loch Ard), and this book, An Afternoon of Time, which Angus & Robertson had first published in 1966 in hardback and, in 1981, in paperback. Our daughter, Doreen Burge, took steps to form a family partnership consisting of her parents and herself. We reprinted both of these titles under a Burgewood Books imprint.
