Basics of Christianity

A very serious problem within the Church today is the fact that a great number of Christians fail to live their every day lives according to the basics of Christianity. There are many who don't even realize this and never stop to consider it. It doesn't mean they are going to hell for not living the way God wants us to; it simply means they are not experiencing the Christian life in the way it was intended by God. Some of these people might ask, "So what am I missing?"
The Bible is God's word and those who would fall into this group very seldom read it or study it. This is the biggest problem which lies within this group. How often do they read it? How often do they pray? How often do they attend church services? This is not an attack on anyone. It is simply the truth of many Christians and the way they live the Christian lives. They straddle the line between the Church and the world. For some, there are worldly practices and entertainments which they refuse to let go of. For others, salvation is simply a fire insurance policy to keep them out of hell. And, for others, their interests simply lie on other worldly matters instead of God, His word or their relationship with Him.
Basics of Christianity is not an exhaustive look at what the basics are. It is a simple look at what might be considered the more common of those basics. It looks at Jesus and who He really is; it discusses the Bible and its content and importance in our Christian life. It also looks at fellowship and purity in the Christian life and essential doctrines and a few other topics which all are a need in our every day life as a Christian. It is important to note that this is not a scholarly look at basic Christianity. It is an attempt to keep the basics in a simple and easy form of understanding.
