ZERO to HERO: Life lessons from the Journey of a sports team

This is a very interesting piece of reading, for it encourages both reminiscing as well as introspection. It allows us to go back to our failures and successes, moments of loss and glory. It makes us go deep into ourselves and reassess what we have been doing with our lives and how that has been impacting lives of others.

The interweaving of the 43 lessons through the ups and downs of Deccan Chargers in IPL Season 2 is fascinating. For it is dif- ficult for a storyteller to bring out key learnings without losing the plot and the pace of the narrative.

The story reiterates many home truths while challenging many perceptions and stereotypes. It demystifies the inside action of a sport that has been transformed into a high form of en- tertainment and with that the baggage of hype and hoopla. It once again demonstrates that any activity in life is about teamwork...about the silent performers, conductors, guides, cheerleaders and supporters whose every bit of blood, sweat and tears goes into making the champion that we so admire and aspire to be.

Zero to Hero is about each one of us and not a team that plays a game that we enjoy on a screen and possibly bet on. The incidents narrated can happen to each of us in our respective contexts of personal and professional life.
