The Dark Side of Romance

This is the story of a young girl who realized that Life is Not a Bed of Roses. She lost her parents in a tragic fire when she was ten and was left in the care of her Aunt. She leaves school at age 16 and creates a cottage industry selling personal care products. These products within five years become a household name and her wealth increases as she becomes the darling of New York Society. She meets and marries a suave, charming, older man, experienced in the seduction of beautiful young women. Within months he controls her social life and her company. Depression sets in and hubby dearest begins administering uppers and downers and she is diagnosed with a drug induced paranoia. He commits her to an asylum and takes total control of her empire. Her life becomes a nightmare as she is forced to undergo the shock therapy treatments designed to rid her of her depression. After many, many months she realizes that in order to survive she must pull herself together, somehow escape, verify her sanity and regain her place in society. Then fueled by revenge she would deal with that son-of-a-bitch who had made her life a living hell.
