The following night, Hamilton and Barbo returned to Fran's Market. Hamilton brandished the shotgun recklessly, while his girlfriend aimed the .32 caliber pistol at the store employees. There were four employees present, including Bryon Schletewitz. Hamilton gathered everyone together and instructed his girlfriend to keep watch over them. He then took Bryon to the nearby stockroom and fatally shot him in the head. Upon his return, Hamilton inquired about the location of the store's safe from employee Douglas White, who claimed there was none. In response, Hamilton shot White in the chest, instantly killing him. The sound of the shotgun, coupled with the chaotic violence and blood, caused employee Josephine Rocha to cry uncontrollably.
