Xinyi is the jungle's favorite author. Shiraz is her biggest fan. Maybe they'll realize it-before-they kill each other.

When Xinyi's greatest treasure is stolen, she enlists the help of the dirty, rude, deceitful smugglers who brought the thieves to her village in the first place. She just maybe shouldn't have spoken her criticisms aloud. Shiraz isn't fond of the woman who called her and Makoa "scum," before demanding assistance, but she has a plan to get some petty revenge. She'll take the princess upriver and dump her there with no way to find her thieves. Little does she know the princess isn't being entirely honest either. Xinyi has offered up forty percent of her "treasure," but the treasure Shiraz keeps haggling over is not gold or gems. It's Xinyi's stolen novel.

This is Xinyi's first foray into being bad and...she kind of likes it.

The journey to retrieve the "treasure" is more adventure than either woman bargained for, and if they survive it, they may just discover that fate offers plenty of good things for anyone smart enough to steal them.
