Inequalities: A Journey into Linear Analysis
This book contains a wealth of inequalities used in linear analysis, and explains in detail how they are used. The book begins with Cauchy's inequality and ends with Grothendieck's inequality, in between one finds the Loomis-Whitney inequality, maximal inequalities, inequalities of Hardy and of Hilbert, hypercontractive and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, Beckner's inequality, and many, many more. The inequalities are used to obtain properties of function spaces, linear operators between them, and of special classes of operators such as absolutely summing operators. This textbook complements and fills out standard treatments, providing many diverse applications: for example, the Lebesgue decomposition theorem and the Lebesgue density theorem, the Hilbert transform and other singular integral operators, the martingale convergence theorem, eigenvalue distributions, Lidskii's trace formula, Mercer's theorem and Littlewood's 4/3 theorem. It will broaden the knowledge of postgraduate and

Clifford Algebras
Clifford algebras, built up from quadratic spaces, have applications in many areas of mathematics, as natural generalizations of complex numbers and the quaternions. They are famously used in proofs of the Atiyah–Singer index theorem, to provide double covers (spin groups) of the classical groups and to generalize the Hilbert transform. They also have their place in physics, setting the scene for Maxwell's equations in electromagnetic theory, for the spin of elementary particles and for the Dirac equation. This straightforward introduction to Clifford algebras makes the necessary algebraic background - including multilinear algebra, quadratic spaces and finite-dimensional real algebras - easily accessible to research students and final-year undergraduates. The author also introduces many applications in mathematics and physics, equipping the reader with Clifford algebras as a working tool in a variety of contexts.

Galois Theory and Its Algebraic Background
Galois Theory, the theory of polynomial equations and their solutions, is one of the most fascinating and beautiful subjects of pure mathematics. Using group theory and field theory, it provides a complete answer to the problem of the solubility of polynomial equations by radicals: that is, determining when and how a polynomial equation can be solved by repeatedly extracting roots using elementary algebraic operations. This textbook contains a fully detailed account of Galois Theory and the algebra that it needs and is suitable both for those following a course of lectures and the independent reader (who is assumed to have no previous knowledge of Galois Theory). The second edition has been significantly revised and re-ordered; the first part develops the basic algebra that is needed, and the second a comprehensive account of Galois Theory. There are applications to ruler-and- compass constructions, and to the solution of classical mathematical problems of ancient times. There are new

A Course in Mathematical Analysis
The three volumes of A Course in Mathematical Analysis provide a full and detailed account of all those elements of real and complex analysis that an undergraduate mathematics student can expect to encounter in the first two or three years of study. Containing hundreds of exercises, examples and applications, these books will become an invaluable resource for both students and instructors. Volume 1 focuses on the analysis of real-valued functions of a real variable. Besides developing the basic theory it describes many applications, including a chapter on Fourier series. Volume 2 goes on to consider metric and topological spaces. Topics such as completeness, compactness and connectedness are developed, with emphasis on their applications to analysis. Volume 3 covers complex analysis and the theory of measure and integration.

Analysis on Polish Spaces and an Introduction to Optimal Transportation
A large part of mathematical analysis, both pure and applied, takes place on Polish spaces: topological spaces whose topology can be given by a complete metric. This analysis is not only simpler than in the general case, but, more crucially, contains many important special results. This book provides a detailed account of analysis and measure theory on Polish spaces, including results about spaces of probability measures. Containing more than 200 elementary exercises, it will be a useful resource for advanced mathematical students and also for researchers in mathematical analysis. The book also includes a straightforward and gentle introduction to the theory of optimal transportation, illustrating just how many of the results established earlier in the book play an essential role in the theory.
