這本書主要是爲“群體鋼琴教學”而寫的，但是也很可用於個別教學。本級的學生都必須具有相當於“可樂弗鋼琴叢書”初級的程度，並且必須能靠記憶彈出多數大調與大三和絃的五指練習。本書裏包括所有十五個大調，用I與V7和絃譜成的可愛樂曲。所有旋律都用五指指位。技巧上的“熱身運動”與每個調的和絃型是彈奏樂曲之前的預備練習。每個調的曲例可訓練學生的視譜能力。彈完曲子的原調之後，可鼓勵他試著移調。本書的曲子沒有一定的次序，可依自己喜好而定先後。重要的一點是，老師要讓學生去發現兩個和絃的共同音，與和絃進行中半音的動向。向“群體鋼琴教學”進言群體教學的老師應不祇是一位鋼琴老師，應是一位“音樂”老師。“群體鋼琴教學”的好處不勝枚舉。學生功課的範圍比較廣泛。他們可以發現並學得音樂的概念。他們有機會創作，即席演奏，並且識得這些活動所用的工具或方法。他們能獨立學習，不必依賴老師爲他們思考，爲他們計畫。學生可以徹底學得基本樂理，並且因彼此之間交換心得而感愉快。由於音樂欣賞，並聆聽同學的演奏，使他們對音樂史上每個層面的認識較多，較廣。譬如：課程中正在研究某一位作曲家，部份人彈這個作品，部份人彈同一作曲家的那個作品，然後共同研究每個曲子的結構與詮釋，結果大家都受益良多。群體中的學生爲了與人合奏，勢必拿準節奏。於是，他們都瞭解正確的節奏與其他基本樂理的道理所在。學生等於是互相教學的。群體教學的老師在課前要以良好的計畫與充分的設備先就可能發生的問題擬定對策。設備不一定要精細，但是要實用。上課當中，使學生毎分鐘都隨時忙著功課，並且每隔會兒就改變一下歩法，如此，秩序問題就幾乎不會發生。缺乏經驗的老師必須提防學生過份熱心而喧賓奪主。這並不是說去壓抑這種精神，而是經由老師的開導使之正當的發揚。撥出上課的一段時間，讓學生家長去照顧學生。如此，不僅使家長了解如何在家裏幫助孩子，同時因著他們的興趣，常常就成就了一個成人班。成人班可以安排在教師日程表的“黃金時間”以外的時間上課，這對於老師的教學很有幫助。群體教學使老師同時可以教較多的學生，並且效果比個別教授好。任何一個群體都免不了有能力上的差異。有些學生擅長這方面，有些學生擅長那方面。通常，一群學生的優、缺點總可以得到平衡的。學習能力較強的學生，可以給他額外的同級教材，而不必讓他先別人而進級。私人教室裏，六個人一班是可行的。如此，即使一、兩個人換班，也可維持四個人的最低限
