Universal design for learning (UDL) is intended to create access to education curricula for all students, including those with disabilities. Gordon, director of communications at the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST), gathers early documents in the field and related articles by researchers and administrators at CAST and by professors of education, special education, and law, to consider UDL's implications for federal, state, and local policy. An overview section places UDL in the context of education reform. Material on national considerations looks at how UDL could inform discussions about No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
