Zeldovich

Russian physicist and cosmologist Yakov Borisovich Zeldovich (b. 1914) and his work are remembered by friends, students, and colleagues. They trace his entire career from his early days at the Institute of Chemical Physics, through the move to Moscow, the atomic project, elementary particles and nuclear physics, mechanics and mathematics, and astrophysics and cosmology. Also included are three pieces by Zeldovich himself, one on remembering a friend, one an afterword to his autobiography, and one on the social and human importance of fundamental science.
