The Geographies of Canada

Canadian geographers outline the territorial evolution of Canada as both a political and cultural space, pointing out such differences from place to place as distribution of immigrants, mother tongues, education level, and regional mobility as well as common factors such as aging and persistent immigration. Some look at the big picture from such perspectives as rural Canadian renewable energy, the change in the Canadian economy from resources to knowledge, and Canada as an urban nation. Remy Tremblay is Professor of Geography at TELUQ in Montreal, a distance-learning institution that forms part of the Universite du Quebec network. He studied at the Universite Laval and holds a PhD in geography from the University of Ottawa. His work investigates the many dimensions of the North American city, such as the travel behaviour of Quebec tourists in Miami or the attraction and retention of skilled labour in knowledge-based cities.
