The Social Dynamics of Open Data

Researchers working specifically on open data reflect critically on their findings, and apply and advance theories that explain the dynamics of open data as a socially constructed phenomenon and practice. Among their topics are the challenges of institutionalized open government data: a historical perspective of Chile's open government data initiative and digital government institutions, the governance of open spatial data infrastructure in Europe, beyond mere advocacy: civil society organizations and the role of intermediaries in Nigeria's open data ecosystem, the relational impact of open data intermediation: experiences from Indonesia and the Philippines, and protecting privacy while releasing data: strategies to maximize benefits and mitigate risks.
