LIVESTOCK RESEARCH INSTITUTE COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURE BIENNIAL REPORT 2006-2007

The year 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of Livestock Research Institute which was established in 1958. The rapid development of livestock industry of Taiwan in the last decades has made a great change from small scale side-line farm family business into large scale enterprise. During the past 50 years, Livestock Research Institute has contributed significantly to this development. Results in the fields of breeding and genetics, physiological biotechnology, feed nutrition, forage crops, processing and utilization, management and use of waste resource in the past 50 years have been accomplished through the execution of research projects, industry service, technology guidance and information extension. With the establishment and operation of innovation incubators, these results have been applied for strengthening the commercialization and industrialization. We are certain that these efforts will further strengthen the availability of research and development resources. We would like to see more active interaction among the industry, government and academies in the years to come. We have taken pains in compiling materials for this booklet so they could be used for search, application and reference. We would highly appreciate your comments and suggestions.
